More About GCC

Section 1:   THE BIBLE 

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative word of God revealing the love of God to the world. We believe the Bible to be inerrant in the original writings, God-breathed and the complete and final authority for faith and practice. It is without error and omission.

Section 2:   GOD

 We believe that there is only one God and that He is the Creator of all.  He is eternally existent as one God in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is all knowing, all present, all powerful and unchanging.

Section 3:  JESUS CHRIST

 We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is God incarnate, God in human form, the express image of the Father, who, without ceasing to be God, became man in order that He might demonstrate who God is and provide the means of salvation for humanity.​

We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and was born of the virgin Mary; that He is fully God and fully man; that He lived a perfect life; that all His teachings are true.​

We believe in His death on the cross, His bodily resurrection, and His ascension to Heaven where He is now seated at the right hand of God as our High Priest and Advocate.

 

Section 4:   HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity who specifically came into the world on the day of Pentecost to glorify Christ and to enable believers to experience the salvation accomplished by Christ.  He is the primary agent for the conviction of sin and for rebirth resulting in salvation.  Simultaneously with salvation, the Holy Spirit imparts new life, baptizes the believer into the body of Christ (His church), permanently indwells the believer, and secularly seals the believer until the day of redemption.  The Holy Spirit wills (directs and controls) those believers who are yielded to Him, enables the believers to bear fruit, and empowers believers to live a life free from sin's dominion.  We also believe that the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to believers for the purpose of edifying the church in accordance with the teachings of scripture.

Section 5:   HUMANITY

​​CREATION - We believe that humanity came into existence by direct creation of God and that humanity is uniquely made in the image and likeness of God.  We believe that human life is sacred from conception to its natural end and that we must have concern for the physical and spiritual needs of all people.

SPIRITUAL CONDITION - We believe that all humanity, because of Adam's fall, has inherited a sinful nature, that all humans choose to sin and that all sin is offensive to God. Humanity, on its own, is unable to remedy this fallen state. 

SEXUALITY AND MARRIAGE - We believe God's plan for human sexuality is to be expressed only within the context of marriage, that God created man and woman as unique biological persons made to completely complement each other.  God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society.  For this reason, we believe that marriage is exclusively the union of one genetic male and one genetic female.

Section 6:  SALVATION

We believe that every individual, because of sin, faces the judgement of God.  We believe that a person is saved from judgement the moment that individual repents of their sin toward God, acknowledges Jesus as Lord and Savior, trusting in His sacrificial death on the cross which appeases God's wrath, and believes that He rose bodily from the grave to defeat death.  Salvation is a gift of God's grace and results in rebirth by the Holy Spirit.

We believe that good works and changed lives are inevitable result of salvation.

Section 7:  THE CHURCH

We believe that the Church, the body of Christ, is a living spiritual body of all believers of this present age.  It exists as both a world-wide fellowship of the family of God as well as in specific local congregations.

We believe in a believer's baptism as a testimony to Christ and identification to Him, and the Lord's Supper (Communion), as a remembrance of Christ's death and shed blood.

We believe that the local church is called by God to gather together to devote themselves to worship, prayer, the teaching of God's word, discipleship and to fellowship and to minister to one another through the development and use of the talents and spiritual gifts.  God has laid upon the local church the primary task of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world, beginning in our own homes, communities and reaching to the utmost parts of the world.

Section 8:  THINGS TO COME

We believe in Christ’s imminent, personal return in power and great glory, and in His present and eternal kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the unsaved.  Those who have been saved will experience eternal life in the presence of God while those who have not been saved will experience eternal punishment and separation from God.
